Camel Dive Club 14th February - 21st
Indepth Diving embarked on a trip to the Camel Dive Club in Naama Bay Egypt, for a week of diving and relaxing in the sun.
We stayed in the superior rooms overlooking the pool at the Camel Hotel. After a five hour flight on the way out we arrived and checked in for our first night at our home away from home
We started our trip with a leisurely dive at the world famous Fiddle, niddle bloody whatever gardens. We were so completely overwhelmed with this that the weather gods sent us straight back there the next day. Personally I think it was so Jo could inhale another couple of gallons of the Red Sea. She liked it so much she rushed off with her new found buddy to call RAAAAAALPPPPH on the porcelain telephone!
Our third day started with lovely weather, calm seas and hot sun. Correct me if I'm wrong but think we went to Temple, Ras Umm Sid and Ras Katy in the afternoon.
Our fourth day was again lovely weather and great apart from the 6.30am start to the wreck of the Dunraven. Vinnie's quote in the morning of " Bugger this Alex , this is no holiday" summed up the early start. We had a fab dive at Ras Ghozlani first, once the skipper had found it, followed by the Dunraven. We had great fun with the large ray the finished the day with the howling tumble of the Shark and Jolanda reef.
On our last day we tootled up to Tiran with really calm seas to dive on Jackson in search of sharks and finished with a couple of dives on Gordon. I can say with certainty that not everyone enjoyed the last dive although some of us loved the flying!
The hardcore, Steve and Jo added an extra day which I beleive went well although Sam did his best to leave his suit in the sea. The rest of us became slightly over refreshed whilst watching the footy.
Our boat for most of the week was Wasser which proved to be very friendly with great food and our skipper did a fab job of picking us up, even if he sometimes struggled to see and hear!!
The dives proved a fab mix of easy and more challeging dives, especially the washing machine experience at Shark and Jolanda.
I would like to extend a special thank you to all at Camel and especially to Sam for taking care of us.
Some of us completed a few courses whilst we were over there. Congratulations are due to the following.
