Meet the Indepth instructors and Haileybury staff members at the airport then fly to The Maldives. Take a speed boat for 10 min from Male Airport to the yacht M/Y blue Voyager. Have an introduction to the dive team and crew on the yacht where you will be assigned your equipment for the trip. This will ensure you have everything ready for your week of boat diving.
Day 2 & 3
PADI Open Water Referral course participants - you will be completing the four 'open water' qualifying dives at Fish Head (North Male) and Kandooma Thila (S. Male) , renowned as some of the best dive sites in the Indian Ocean.
Qualified Divers -We will be doing guided adventure dives at Fish Head and Kandooma Thila . This area is a beautiful archipelago and includes reefs, lagoons, swim troughs, huge caverns, and a wide variety of marine life, including the occasional pelagic, such as sharks, manta rays and whale sharks.
Day 4 & 5
Now everyone will be qualified divers, there is the opportunity to start some adventure dives. The Maldives offers an unparalleled opportunity to drift dive where all the work is done by the gentle currents and divers flow past amazing coral reefs, shoals of fish and big marine life.
We will also be starting the PADI Advanced Course for those who are already OW divers and for those who are up for the challenge, we will be doing a NIGHT DIVE!
Dive destinations will include Fotteyo Kandu. Many scuba divers consider Fotteyo Kandu (Vaavu Atoll) to be the best dive site in Maldives and it is also rated among the top 5 dive sites in the world. The mouth of the channel is exposed to the ocean and during north east monsoon when the currents are incoming, a good variety of fish species gather at the entrance to the channel. Animals commonly spotted here include grey reef shark patrolling the channel mouth, jack and tuna in the deeper water, schools of midnight snappers and red snapper form in huge groups. The wall features caves, overhangs and swim-throughs at different depths. These caves and overhangs are filled with colourful yellow colour like soft coral, deeper caves and overhangs are filled with huge bushes of black corals.
On this day, we will complete our final two dives of our diving adventure at Guraidhoo Kandu South
Since the eastern side of this South Male channel is open ocean, large predatory fish can regularly be spotted here. This site is famous for sightings of sharks, schools of eagle rays and the occasional sail fish and hammerheads. The best condition to do the dive is when the current is flowing into the Atol
Back to port and transfer to Male Airport. All dive sites throughout the week are subject to weather conditions and the best sites will be chosen, depending on the weather.
